OK, referenced to what? Did you return (4) drivers or just (2)? At this point I don't recall but (1) having anywhere near 'vintage' specs.

Yeah, I mentioned the need for some pretty serious heat + gravity being required to loosen up/realign a pair of long term storage 421s.

4 - 2 pair.As i recall the numbers were woofers 1-2, & 5-6, of the 6 I measured.Numbers 3-4 were close enough to factory you and Pano said I think so I'm not touching those.Yes the woofer that was real bad number (6) was the one he had the most trouble with.He recharged it and nothing happened,so after 3 zapping further investigation needed. He determined that the voice coil wasn't even close to being in the gap from a failed spider. He said that those woofers were stored face down for a very long time, maybe 10 years or more, without rotating them.He replaced Coil,Cone,Alnico Slug,Spider,on that one woof (The Worst One).I sent him the measurements that Pano and i did on them that i sent to you.He tried to reverse that sag in the spider with weight and siting them in the opposite direction but after a week there was no change. He recommended a new spider(which includes a re-coning, the works).Unless I wanted to wait like a year for the spider to change direction by storing it upright.I'm not getting any younger so I gave him the authorization to do what he had to.To bring them back to factory Altec specs. :flagwaver:

@ GM Have you had a chance to hook up those new Diaphragms you mentioned yet ? I'm curious on their sound, the 26420 Pascalite is one i haven't heard yet.And am very interested in your impressions on them. And if there will be a smile or frown ! I'm hoping it is from ear to ear !

You could maybe ask Wolf von Langa since he recently invented a similar solution with two 15' bass speakers and the 288 tweeter in an open baffle cabinet.

    Maybe that helps...

Now that work is slowing down a bit I'm finally getting some time to continue on with my project.I was mounting the woofers to the baffle yesterday afternoon and they look great can't wait to fire these babies up.I have dust off the measuring equipment again finally.

Here's a couple pics of the baffles.

Can I make a suggestion......8 bolts instead of 4, for the mounting of the woofers.
A small point I know, but that will really hold those beasts firmly.!!!!

Looking good! Glad to see you are working on these again & looking forward to the first impressions.

Re: "Crossover Design for New Project"

Thanks Guys ! John Altec only ever used 4 on their cabs my 19's only have 4 bolts the 612C's the same.Plus I have a new cork gasket on the back of the woofers.I think that will be fine.If it isn't I add more. You can actually overtighten them.

I haven't put a finish on them yet,but will do that after they are ready to come in the house !

Looking good! I'm surprised that you front mounted the drivers. Any particular reason?
